Kim Young-ho | 金永镐
Kim Young-ho was born in 1964 to a family of ceramicists. From a young age he played with clay and wooden kilns. He left formal schooling at age of 16 to enter a ceramic arts school in Seoul. After graduation he become a researcher in ceramic techniques and a sought-after speaker on its history and craft.
He then apprenticed under a Korean grandmaster at Sangji University for four years, learning how to more finely manipulate clay, to formulate glazes, and to combine the two in a kiln.
When he mastered this, he took up residency in Daqing, China, as creative director of a ceramics workshop.
He moved, eventually, to Florida, where he taught pottery workshops at Young Pottery in Fort Lauderdale, during which time he was also contracted as a guest lecturer at several universities.
He returned to to South Korea in 1998, and has been researching and producing ceramics in his own workshop full-time since then.
